Blake’s Tiny House

Thanks to everybody who visited Blake's Tiny House and participated in our first design voting poll!  We received 102 votes in all and here's the tally:

  1. Lance - 34 Votes
  2. Sarah - 32 Votes
  3. Al - 17
  4. Blake - 16
  5. Other - 3

What's next you might ask?  Well, over the next week we will be doing a pro vs. con analysis of each design concept as well as considering the poll results in order to formulate a more cohesive design concept with a few variables added.  During this process please check back often as there will be more voting polls and blog posts to gather more input from all of the visitors of Blake's Tiny House.

Wow!  Check this video out everyone!  I guess our folding concepts are not that impractical after all.  This is really encouraging for Blake's Tiny House!

One idea we are actively pursuing is embedding tables, chairs, and sofas into the walls and the floors of the tiny house. Check out our initial concept under the sketches tab.  The video below is of a company we particularly admire.

Not really about tiny houses per se, but this video shows the ideal of being efficient (maybe too much) with space, in this case with a tool chest:

Take a look at the first ideas for the tiny house and vote on the sketches page. Leave a comment here after you cast your ballot.

Want to simplify your life, eliminate the hassle of messes and live more cleanly.  Here are some examples of how to incorporate the Tiny House Movements thoughts into your life.

STOP PAYING FOR TV! Find an old computer or a laptop that you are not using and hook it up to your TV.  All that you need is a an audio cord and HDMI cable that can easily be found at Best Buy or Wal-Mart.  You can stop paying for cable – saving up to one hundred bucks a month. You can watch almost any shows you want (hulu, ect..) and with Netfix you will discover documentaries and movies that will spark a whole new adventure in your life.

RESET YOUR LIFE.  Toss (in a neat fashion) everything you own minus your furniture into your closet.  Everything you can’t fit in their THOW AWAY!  I did this before moving to New York. I knew that I had to fit everything I owned into the back of a car trunk.  Not only did this rid me off the unnecessary burden of hauling around junk, it freed me from the burden of caring for all of these materials. My closet was 4’ wide by 8’ tall at the time. I suggest a bigger closet space for those with a couple more years under your belt.

DOUBLE UP:   Stretch while your coffee brews, brush your teeth (after your coffee) while gazing out of your window, and use mouth wash while taking your morning pee.  Make all of these suggestions a habit and not only will you be happier – you’ll be sexier.

You walk young Along with swinging hips and general 'attitude', there's another crucial element to harness if you want to be seen as sex-on-legs: flexibility. Flexibility is what makes people appear to 'walk young' - an instant winner in the sexy stakes, says US human behaviouralist David Lieberman.

If you think a tiny house is a crazy and expensive idea, I kindly beg to differ.  Please consult this article from The New York Times about the tiny spaces in which young New Yorkers are willing to live.  Compared to that a tiny house is a pretty good deal.

The Team is Meeting tonight to discuss ideas, thought, and to start strategizing how to complete this project. Below is an taste of F9's initial ideas for forms.  Contributions from other team members will come soon after the meeting.

We have also starting to compile google doc's based around tasks list, materials, and marketing.
